Spices of Life

{ Living Life by Ear }

HBO really found something special when they decided to make the show Eastbound and Down especially on direct tv en espanol. I love the main character, Kenny Powers, who reminds me a lot of the people I used to work with when I lived up in Atlanta. Having been knocked from a considerable amount of success myself, I can identify with Kenny's character. His side kick has to be the best part about the show though. He kind of reminds me of this kid back in high school that followed us around every day, trying to fit in too hard.

Kenny was a baseball player for the Atlanta Braves, but his alcoholism and drug abuse got in the way of his professional career. He is forced to come back to his hometown to live with his brother and his family. I think that it is really funny that he has to return to the high school that he graduated from in order to teach gym class.

That would be rough for just about any professional ball player of any kind. The last season kind of left us hanging, but they are supposed to be showing more in September. I really can not wait to see what happens this time. I love this show down to his greasy Georgia-style mullet! I hope that they decide to do a longer season than this one, which only has 6 episodes.
