Spices of Life

{ Living Life by Ear }

As the coach of a girls’ basketball team in a recreation league, I like to hold events involving the girls outside of games and practice. Every year I invite the girls and parents over for an end-of-season barbecue and then the girls sleep over at my house. It’s a nice way for everyone to get to know the people that they’ve been cheering beside of in the bleachers a little better.

We have a pretty big basement that’s finished into a living room area and that’s normally where I have the girls set up their sleeping bags for the sleepover . But of course this year, our air conditioning broke right before it was supposed to happen. Even though basements are naturally colder in houses, it still wouldn’t make for a comfortable stay for the players or my family.

I had Sears heating and cooling install a new system a couple of days before the big day and night. It worked just like an air conditioning is supposed to and all I had to worry about after that was making sure that the girls eventually went to sleep that night.
