This is a guest post by my friend Debbie Rubic
Well, I just finished watching NCIS on Direct TV Nevada and I must say that some of the episodes can be just a little too graphic for daytime television at times. Don't get me wrong, I love this show.
I'm pretty sure that I have watched literally every episode that has ever been filmed. Each time USA is running a NCIS marathon, I'm tuned in. There is really only one episode that I'm particularly concerned with though.
Again, I love this show. But with that being emphasized, the episode where a young trio smuggles illegal drugs through customs by swallowing the bags definitely pushes the limit. A young boy makes his way to the hospital, after sustaining a broken leg. He had also ingested several bags of heroin before entering the country, which the doctors do not know about. The bags eventually burst in the man's intestines, and he dies shortly after. The two people that accompanied the man demand to be taken to the morgue to see the body.
Once the couple arrive in the basement, they hold a nurse hostage along with her boyfriend, Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo of NCIS. The two then demand that the nurse cut into their friend's body to get the packages of heroin from his stomach. Special Agent DiNozzo fights back, and ends up being struck in the head with a sidearm. The nurse then calls off security in an effort to save her boyfriend's life, and agrees to retrieve the drugs. This is where it gets really intense, and a little too disturbing for daytime television.
The nurse cuts open the body and pulls out a very large string of the dead man's intestines. She fumbles with it to disgust the man holding her hostage as he watches her cut into his comrade. The nurse pulls the stomach out of the body and holds it in to the air. She slashes it open, destroying the bags of heroin.
At the end of the episode, it cuts to a scene of the hostage taker's accomplice sniffing the drugs directly from the man's intestines.
Keep in mind that everything I've explained here was being shown at just 11:00 AM on national television. Not one bit of this was censored or left to the imagination. I love NCIS but this was a bit too much.
