I believe it's now an open secret, that paper based telephone books are now in its dying process and is being forgotten due to internet generation. Plainly ask anybody when was the last time they ever checked a phone book, perhaps you will find them saying " I have no idea".
Because of the significant impact of using Internet, the change of direction had shifted away from using telephone books. No longer from the past when students busted out the Yellow pages to look for a pizza parlor or local restaurants listed in the area. But plainly, they just use the internet to find related contact numbers and addresses that are conveniently on top and away they go.
In few words for the youth, Internet is the new local yellowpages. Whenever, people cannot find your website, it only means that your business is not in existence for the potential customers, to say the least.
We acknowledged that there is a good chance to see more changes in this marketplace as local search turns progressively more sociable while user's review and local business acknowledgments are getting more significant. Thus local search constitutes as one of the largest possibilities that is merely hanging around, ready to be exposed by large number of companies that provide their local services.

Nowadays, if your business isn't found online, then it doesn't exist. I agree that the Internet has become the local yellow pages. I can't even remember when the last time I held a directory was. Local search will definitely be a valuable and useful venue for increasing sales and site traffic for businesses.
